Product Description
How many times have you started the year with the intent to read the Bible from cover to cover but got bogged down in Leviticus or Numbers? Or worse, you go through the motions of reading but cannot articulate what you read? Do you feel frustrated trying to get past a surface-level understanding of the Bible, to see how it ties in to world history, philosophy, archaeology and contemporary science?
Welcome to PROJECT TIMOTHY, a program of the Academy for Christian Thought. Project Timothy (PT) affirms the Bible as the Spirit-inspired and authoritative Word of God for the Christian Church. It is a Christian community seeking spiritual renewal from a devotional discipleship of the mind within a theological safe space. The goal is to understand the Bible that you read in conjunction with extra-biblical sources and tools for biblical research.
PT provides a theological safe space to question assumptions about the scriptures. This strengthens our beliefs and equips us to responsibly proclaim the Gospel. A deeper understanding of the Bible calls for a broad-based program of study involving history, literary criticism, philosophy, comparative religions, science, and both biblical and systematic theology. In this book, you will be introduced to key topics in all of these areas.
We begin with Job as we explore the Hebraic view of wisdom as "an orientation to God". Next, we encounter the prophetic writings in the chronological order of their final forms, from Amos to Joel and end with the apocalypsis of Daniel.
Renew the foundations of your belief and faith in God by Thinking Things Through within a Theological Safe Space.
