"Words of Wisdom" series presents stories from the Old and New Testaments at a level that children can read for themselves. It contains bright and attractive pictures to help bring out the teaching of the Scriptures. The aim of the series is to make the Bible come alive to children so that they will become more interested in its message. Then they can see how valuable it is for their own lives.
"Words of Wisdom" series provides background information for each story for parents to read. There are also questions to think about, in the hope that the message of the stories will be remembered. At the back of each booklet is the Bible text for each story taken from the Good News Bible. These story books may be used as teaching materials in Sunday Schools as well as at home. They may also be used to share with friends who do not yet know about God's Good News.
After Jesus' resurrection, his followers were filled with courage and preached the Good News of God's Salvation. They told everyone that the resurrection proved that Jesus was truly the Saviour sent by God. Many Jewish leaders were angry with what the Christians said, and tried to stop them from speaking. However, the Christians continued to preach the Gospel. They even took the message to foreign countries. So the Church began to spread out from Jerusalem.
Saul was a very dedicated Jew who lived in Jerusalem. He opposed everything the Christians did. He even received permission from the Jewish leaders to go Damascus to arrest Christians. While he was heading to Damascus, Jesus appeared to him. As a result, his life changed completely and he became a follower of Jesus. Later his name was changed to Paul. Now he went about with Christians to share the Good News with others. Paul's life was often in danger as he went all over the Roman Empire preaching the Good News of Jesus' love.
