I Thought I Could Do It on My Own
For the longest time, I believed that if I just worked hard enough, pushed through, and stayed strong, I could handle anything life threw at me.
Even after I came to know the Lord, I still relied on my own strength—my own willpower, my own plans, my own ability to keep everything together.
But then life hit me in ways I never expected.
I was working two jobs: worked as a secondary school teacher and managing Faith Book Store by myself at the same time. In addition to that, I started a lifegroup in my school and was also serving church ministries that required a lot of time and effort as well. I was spreading myself too thin and this kind of lifestyle continued for years.
I was doing a lot of work, but I could hardly do them well. However, I continued to push through and hoping to
Then, I reached a point where I couldn’t push through anymore. I was exhausted. Drained. Frustrated. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t make things happen the way I wanted.
And that’s when I realized:
💡 I was never meant to do this on my own.
I was weak. And I needed God’s strength to carry me, to sustain me, and to help me achieve the great things He had planned for my life.
If you’re feeling that same exhaustion—the weight of trying to hold everything together, the pressure of being strong all the time—I want you to know that you don’t have to do this alone.
Because God has already promised:
📖 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31
Let’s talk about what that really means.
God’s Promise to Those Who Feel Weak
💡 Your strength runs out. But God's strength never does.
God never intended for you to rely on your own power to get through life. That’s why He says:
✔ Wait on Me.
✔ I will renew your strength.
✔ You will soar again.
But what does it actually mean to "wait on the Lord"?
What Does It Mean to "Wait on the Lord"?
This verse isn’t talking about waiting passively—it’s not about sitting back, doing nothing, and hoping things get better.
The Hebrew word for "wait" here is qavah (קָוָה), which means:
✅ To hope in
✅ To trust fully
✅ To bind yourself to God like a rope
Waiting on God means clinging to Him even when you don’t see the answers yet.
It means saying:
🔥 "God, I don’t know what’s next, but I trust You completely."
🔥 "I feel weak, but I know You are my strength."
🔥 "I may not see the breakthrough yet, but I know You are working."
💡 Waiting is not about doing nothing—it’s about putting your hope in the One who can do everything.
What Happens When You Wait on the Lord?
God makes four promises in Isaiah 40:31 for those who trust in Him:
1. “They shall renew their strength.”
- Your strength may fail, but God’s strength is limitless.
- When you surrender to Him, He fills you with power you didn’t have before.
- You don’t have to force it—you just have to receive it.
💡 Have you been trying to carry everything on your own? What would happen if you gave it to God?
2. “They shall mount up with wings like eagles.”
- Eagles don’t struggle to fly—they soar.
- They glide on the wind, using the storm to lift them higher.
- God doesn’t just want you to survive—He wants you to soar.
💡 What if the storm you're in right now isn’t meant to break you—but to lift you?
3. “They shall run and not be weary.”
- Life feels like a race, and sometimes you just want to stop running.
- But when you lean on God, He gives you supernatural endurance.
- You will keep going—not because of your own strength, but because He is carrying you.
💡 What if you don’t have to “push through” on your own anymore? What if God is offering to carry you?
4. “They shall walk and not faint.”
- Sometimes life isn’t about running—it’s about taking one step at a time.
- God promises that He will sustain you, even in the slow seasons.
- You don’t have to sprint—just walk with Him, and He will keep you standing.
💡 If you’re too tired to run, will you let God hold your hand as you walk?
How to Renew Your Strength in God
If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or ready to give up, here’s what you need to do:
✔ STOP relying on your own strength.
🚫 You were never meant to handle everything alone.
🚫 God’s power is made perfect in your weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
✔ START trusting in God’s timing.
🔥 He sees the whole picture.
🔥 His plan for you is not over.
✔ PRAY and release the burden to Him.
🙏 "Lord, I can’t do this on my own. I give this situation to You. Strengthen me, guide me, renew me."
✔ DECLARE Isaiah 40:31 over your life.
📖 “Lord, I will wait on You. I trust You. I receive Your strength today.”
🚀 You don’t have to carry this alone. Let God renew your strength.
When You Feel Like Giving Up, Remember This:
💡 You are not alone.
💡 God is with you.
💡 Your strength will be renewed.
No matter how weak you feel right now—this is not the end of your story.
🔥 God’s strength is greater than your exhaustion.
🔥 His power is greater than your weakness.
🔥 His love is greater than your burdens.
