Trusting God in 2025: A Lesson from the Kitchen Sink
It’s the beginning of 2025, and like many of you, I’ve found myself reflecting on the year ahead. Just the other day, as I was washing dishes, a verse suddenly came to mind. (Yes, that is how God often speaks to me, in the middle of random, everyday moments!)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." – Proverbs 3:5-6
At that moment, I felt a wave of peace wash over me. It was exactly what I needed. This year is going to be a busy and uncertain one—I have so many things to do and achieve. Like many of you, I feel the weight of responsibilities: ensuring I have enough for myself while also providing for those who depend on me. On top of that, a new project has just been planted in our hearts, and in one week, we’ll be launching a homeschool. There are countless unknowns ahead of us.
But God, in His perfect timing, sent this verse to calm my heart.
When the Journey Feels Overwhelming
As I stood there, rinsing the last few dishes, I couldn’t help but reflect on the significance of that verse. Trusting God with all our hearts—what does that really mean? For me, it meant surrendering the urge to control every detail, every outcome. It meant choosing faith over fear, especially when stepping into the unknown.
Launching a homeschool is not a small task. Questions keep coming up in my mind: Will we have enough students to cover the expenses? Are we indeed prepared for the challenges ahead? Will we be able to impact young lives in the way we’ve envisioned? On top of these are many other commitments that I have committed to in the past few years.
And these thoughts have become a source of contant stress, pressure and worry for the past two months. What if I fail?
But at that moment, as God’s Word echoed in my mind, I realised something profound: I don’t have to figure it all out on my own. The promise is clear: If I trust Him with my whole heart and submit my plans to Him, He will guide me one step at a time. My plan doesn't have to be a perfect plan, because He will perfect it for me along the way. This verse doesn’t promise an easy path or a life free from obstacles. What it promises is clarity, purpose, and direction. It promises that He will make the path straight.
Faith: The Anchor for New Beginnings
In that simple moment, I felt peace replacing my worry. The pressure to control every outcome started to disappear. I didn’t need all the answers—because the One who holds the future was walking with me. What do I need to do? To trust Him, to keep taking one step at a time, and to remember that He is faithful to guide me.
As we prepare for this homeschool launch, I’m reminded that every great endeavour begins with faith. Faith that God is in control. Faith that He will provide the strength, wisdom, and resources needed exactly when we need them. Faith that, even when obstacles arise, He will be there, making our path straight.
Walking into 2025 with Trust
I don’t know what this year will bring—none of us do. But one thing I do know: We can choose to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. We can place our plans, our fears, and our dreams in His hands, knowing that His promises are sure.
So, as we step into this new year together, whether you’re launching something new, facing personal challenges, or just trying to find your way, I invite you to hold on to this promise with me. Trust in the Lord because His Word never returns void. He will guide you, strengthen you, and lead you into the path He has prepared.
